To the left is a sample of my portfolio that I update somewhat regularly. It should give you a good idea of my projects and the things I like doing.

About
------------------------------ ^

My name is Jeff Miranda, and I'm a graphic designer. I specialize in print and web design but have been known to dabble in fine art, interface design, usability, photography, typography and programming. In an industry like mine it's important not to isolate yourself to just one discipline, especially at the rate media and technology evolve. Most of my clients are small businesses and they need a person who can not only create their brand identity, but also setup their website.

To be able to do all that, I think is a pretty good position to be in.

I <3 WWW
------------------------------ ^

I love the web. I received my very first PC in '94 and started learning HTML shortly after. I was making websites on Geocities and chatting on mIRC all before Microsoft bought Hotmail. I even had a webcam broadcasting my dorm over the internet when I was in university (weird I know). So I try and support anything encouraging positive growth of the web, especially community-driven open source technology. Here's a sample of that:

  World Wide Web Consortium
  Web Standards Project
  Wikipedia
  OpenMedia
  Email Charter
  PHP.net
  MySQL.com
  JQuery.com
  Modx.com

www.eservus.com Eservus is a multi-city online concierge company. They were looking for a re-imagining of their website and asked me if I'd be interested. They wanted a completely new design that was modern but still familiar to their massive client base. You can check out the new website here.

Corporate Identity: Breathe Hot Yoga Breathe Hot Yoga is a new hot yoga studio in south Calgary. They were looking for something elegant and simple without all of the lotus flowers and flame images you typically see associated with hot yoga. I built the foundation of their brand and made it strong enough so they could run with it for years to come.

www.breathehotyoga.ca BreatheHotYoga.ca is the online presence of one of the newest hot yoga studios in south Calgary. It was important to keep the website simple and concise which worked just fine because it allowed me to utilize the awesome photos used for the background. If you think the website looks great, you should check out the studio ;)

Earls Takout Menu This was an image used to launch the new Earls takeout menu for Earls Bankers Hall in downtown Calgary. The late night business crowd was a big market that hadn't been targeted until now. Together with management we developed a campaign that drove night sales beyond their targeted goals.

The Mountaineers I'm fond of the Junior 'A' Mountaineers identity I did. It was fun and the identity had a lot of excitement and energy. And best of all it's great seeing the identity being worn by a whole team of lacrosse players as they run around crushing their opponents. Now if only I could redesign their website.

Doodlespiel Pin The Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG) holds a curling bonspiel every year affectionately called the "Doodlespiel". 2012 will be the 40th anniversary of the Doodlespiel so the committee wanted to re-imagine the whole image of the bonspiel beginning with their identity. Above is the 40th anniversary pin which contains the new identity. I had limited space to work with but the pin came out looking great. Next to come is the website which is in the testing stage. As soon as that's live I'll post it here. You can check out the old website here (you'll soon see why they needed a redesign).
